The Rains of Gurugram

The Congested U Blocks, the Pedestrian Kitchens, the Glitzy Hubs, the Sectors that Mattered, the Gallery of Wants and the Streets of Exuberance.

Gurugram as I fondly call, is a place that taught me how to see, again.

It had been almost 2 years since I moved out of a city and at first, the hustle and bustle of the place was frightening. Still, over time, the city did grow on me and as the time to leave was upon me, I had developed an emotional connect with the place. As always, nothing new over here.

The shady lanes and the pigeonholed houses of U Block, where I lived, were a stone’s throw away from one of the biggest landmarks of Gurgaon, “Cyber Hub”, which was Glitzy, Flashy and Exuberance written all over it.

U block was a decent place for our short sojourn. It had everything that we needed and was close to the workplace, add a metro station across the street, it was a done deal. The rates, were very cheap as well and I was not complaining.

So what was these 2 months all about, then?

Change is the only constant in life and change I did. In a lot of ways and the guy who left Kashipur, is for sure, not the guy who came back.

The experiences you have, the things you see and the people you meet. The three things that change you for who you are. All that and more happened in Gurgaon.

Well, it had a lot of work, it had a lot of fun, it had some awesome people, and it had amazing places and some wonderful memories.

As I write, I remember something someone told me some time back and I ask myself, why is it that I get so easily attached. I ponder over this and realize that it’s not something new. This is who I am, change and endings have never sat well with me, and I guess it never will.

The anchors were raised,

The ships are poised,

The paddles were taut,

The sails are caught,

With the wind beside,

I sail outside,

For the world to see,

The best in me…
